Food Spots You Should Try When in Quezon (Lucena City)

by - Monday, May 30, 2016

If we've been friends in Facebook it's no news that I frequently visit Lucena, Quezon province. Lucena City has a special place in my heart because of my boyfriend. And being the food enthusiasts that we are our spare times are spent hunting and trying out food hubs in the city. Today, I thought of listing down affordable restaurants in Lucena that will leave your tummy stuffed and happy!

NOTE: I USED MY PHONE TO SNAP MOST OF THE PHOTOS FOR THIS POST HENCE LOWER RESOLUTION. SOME PHOTOS ARE ALSO SMALL IN SIZE TO PRESERVE THEIR QUALITY.

• Ana Belai Restaurant https://www.facebook.com/anabelaiph
I was craving for chicken wings when we chanced upon Ana Belai. They are located in (Bayan) town proper so it was really not difficult to find after all. Their version of chicken wings is quite different - it tastes like Chicken Adobo, which I really don't mind. I also wanted to try their Red Velvet cake but it was not available by the time we visited.

The place is nice, clean and air-conditioned. If you're planning to hold a small gathering, I believe they do have a second floor which they use as a function room for parties and events. Ratings: 3/5 stars

• DadBod Burgers https://www.facebook.com/DadbodBurgers/
Their yummy burgers are to die for! The patties are very juicy and tasty for an affordable price. You gotta see the crazy long lines of customers to believe it. I think I enjoyed munching my burger so much that I literally have only 2 photos with me. Dang! I've been here for God-knows-how-many-times and yet I only have two photos to prove it. Haha

Given that the place is very small and simple, it is something that you'll likely move pass by. But don't let the facade fool you; Dadbod is a goldmine of great food. I suggest you to swing by after lunch and before dinner time (or non-peak hours) to be able to get a seat. Ratings: 4.5 stars

• The Open Tavern https://www.facebook.com/TheOpenTavern/
Check my Instagram and you'll know I always swing by The Open Tavern every time I'm in Lucena. They just have everything we ever wanted. Everything is Instagram-worthy too! The entire staff is very friendly and accommodating.

MUST TRY: Bacon-wrapped Jalapeño Poppers, Chicken Wings (available in different flavors), Red Velvet Pancake, Green Tea Pancake, Grilled Squid, and (Black) Angus Burger. The waiting game for an available seat could be of a problem as The Open Tavern is indeed a favorite hangout place, we suggest dropping by during non-peak hours.

I'm giving this place a whopping 5 stars!

• Ground Zero: House of Pizza
If you like pasta and pizza (I know you do) but want to try something new for your tastebuds, try Lucban's Ground Zero. They are hugely popular in Lucban that it reached Lucena City.

They're famous for their "folded pizza" called Kalissa Almama (P108); As for me I tried their Pizza Lasagna and Hawaiian Delight Pizza and so far they didn't disappoint. Ratings: 3.5 stars

• Red Samurai Japanese Restaurant
If I'm feeling Japanese for the night, we go for a ramen date in Red Samurai. It is owned by a Japanese national himself so you can already bet on the authenticity of the food.

Must try: ramen with a twist (Sinigang Ramen) and their yakiniku, sushi, and sashimi. Ratings: 4/5 stars! Facebook: https://m.facebook.com/RED-Samurai-394403840681375/

• Senoritas Mexinoy Kitchen
A new discovery is Señoritas Mexinoy Kitchen. They're located inside a neighborhood (subdivision) - pretty much like Kapitolyo in Pasig. I'm not big on Mexican food but this place made me change my mind: 'Just Wings with Chipotle dip' is a game changer in my quest for the best chicken wings. If you're on a healthy diet, skimp not as they have lots of fresh smoothies and fruit shakes. Promise, you'll love them! Ratings: 5/5 stars! • Ellirey's Seafood Market, Paluto and Restobar
A newcomer in the food business is Lucena's version of Dampa. They're located just beside the Metro Pacific Mall in Bayan so looking for it wouldn't be much of a hassle. They pride on their PILUKA concept (Pili - choose, Luto - cook, Kain - eat).

There  are still vacant stalls in the Seafood Market as of writing but it's definitely worth visiting already. This is where I get my French macaroons and Pastillas whenever I'm in Lucena. They also have sweets & pastries stalls that sell frappes and red velvet cakes. Ratings: 4/5 stars
