KATE Tokyo Puff Powder Foundation Review

by - Friday, September 16, 2016

I arrived in Japan during the summer season, so I find myself wearing and buying less makeup than usual, especially since most of the makeups sold here lean on the moisturizing and dewy side (which I'm personally not a fan of).

But of course life in Japan wouldn't be complete without looking posh and presentable so I still find myself reaching for something that will do the job without the heavy-feeling and that is easy to put on.

Here I got KATE Tokyo Puff Powder Foundation. It comes with a puff that promises to cover easily and evenly. The powder foundation itself promises a thin and light coverage just enough to deliver a beautiful (not so cakey) finish.

Well, don't let the "thin coverage" fool you. This foundation is finely milled that you can layer it up according to your preference seamlessly. It is one of the things I love most about foundations made in Japan, even the cheapest drugstore brands have the most fine touch comparable to Western high-end brands, imho. (Plus!!! They're always yellow-toned)

Also, the moisturizing ingredients included in the Kate Tokyo Puff Powder Foundation made the powder less prone to caking so I really have no problem building up the coverage.

Also hailed as the "Fake Skin Puff Foundation", KATE Tokyo Puff Powder Foundation is available in 2 shades (Light Beige and Natural Beige) and 1 colorless powder. The colorless powder comes with SPF15 PA++ sun protection while the other two come with SPF20 PA++.

I usually use this foundation together with my Missha BB Cushion if I'm going for extra coverage or I use KATE Tokyo Puff Powder Foundation alone if I just want to even out my skin tone before going out.

What I like:
• light-weight but very good coverage
• finely milled
• buildable coverage
• chic sturdy black packaging
• useful and sturdy puff
• pretty decent staying power

What I don't like?
• nothing much actually

But if you have extremely oily skin and a lot of imperfections that you want to cover, I suggest using a good primer and a concealer beforehand.

This isn't totally a mattifying foundation so it didn't do so much for my oily skin either.
