HARAJUKU: Kiddy Land and Shinjuku

by - Saturday, May 06, 2017

Kiddy Land,  Harajuku's landmark toy store, is a 5-floor paradise full of 'kawaii-ness' for kids and kids at heart alike. They have every cute thing you need, you'll want to bring home everything. It's an amazing toy paradise offering a wide range of character goods and collectibles for all ages.

And by paradise, I mean uhm? just look at these...

6-1-9 Jingu-mae, Shibuya-ku, Tokyo 150-0001 TEL:03-3409-3431 Monday~Friday: 11:00-21:00
(7-min. walk from JR Yamanote Line Harajuku Station Omotesando Exit)

You've been warned: Kawaii-heavy photos ahead, enjoy!

Studio Ghibli fans, rejoice! There's a wide space full of anything but Studio Ghibli goodies at the second floor.

My Neighbor Totoro!

And Star Wars too.

Card Captor Sakura!

There were also collectibles for Disney Princesses fans, Doraemon, and even Sailor Moon fans. A mini display for Kimi No Nawa (Your Name) notebooks and other collectibles can be found near the entrance too. I think I was spaced-out by the fact that this is a 5-storey building full of toys and collectibles hence the scanty photos. You can really tell I enjoyed the experience when I have less photos of it (but a vivid memory in mind).

PKMN Ruby/Sapphire's Mae and Torhic (top). Pokemon Pearl, Platinum, Diamond's Cynthia (aka Shirona in Japan) and her Garchomp. Oh well, since I can't collect them all, I'll just take photos of them and remind myself how broke I am. Kidding! Haha

The top floor was dedicated solely for HELLO KITTY and RILAKKUMA! Hooray!

RILAKKUMA school supplies

Wait, is that a ninja Rilakkuma? Haha

Wallets and pouches. I believe this a collaboration of Hello Kitty x Dearismo. While the design pattern is really good, the price really hits the pocket. So I bought mom a Hello Kitty mug and a sweat shirt instead! Haha

Stuffed toys for your room!

The basement is dedicated for Snoopy fans!

Omotesando Hills

Shinjuku at night! Tall buildings, city lights? Yes.

Outside Kinokuniya bookstore's main branch which boasts 11 floors (including basement) brimming with huge selections of Japanese and English-written books!

KINOKUNIYA SHINJUKU 3-17-7 Shinjuku, Shinjuku-ku, 163-8636
10:00-21:00 PM
(3 minutes on foot from JR Shinjuku Station East Exit

According to japan-guide.com, Shinjuku is the WORLD'S busiest railway station. And I couldn't agree more. Compared to other stations we got off at, Shinjuku station can be as confusing as Tokyo station if you exit the wrong way. Most of the tourist spots in Shinjuku (including BICQLO - Biccamera gadget store + Uniqlo) like Kinokuniya can be found at the East side of the station.

And since we were riding through the Yamanote line, we went out through the easiest exit we can see--WEST EXIT. We were totally at the opposite side all those times! I just learned this just now while searching for Kinokuniya's address. I think we spent 20-30 minutes walking just to find Kinokuniya and Bicqlo. Well, we actually did find them. However, we were extremely exhausted already.

#NOTEtoSELF familiarize yourself with train lines, train stations and now, even exits! Haha
