Skincare Favorites - Spring / Summer 2019

I don’t know what has gotten into me and why I feel like writing more about makeup and skincare these past few days over travel-related posts which have been sitting on my drafts for months now.
Anyway, as mentioned in my previous personal post, my hormones are out of whack and I’m suffering from cystic and chin acne for God knows how long. Lucky for me, my skin condition has improved a bit and I’m feeling more confident each day. Here are some of the products, I’d say, that helped improved my skin!

LUSH Mask of Magnaminty
This thick green paste smelling like peppermint never fails to calm troubled skin. I find that my red, angry, bumpy acne would easily subside after using this mask religiously. The scrub are just enough to exfoliate without being harsh. It leaves a cool minty sensation that feels very refreshing! I use LUSH Mask of Magnaminty at least twice a week, then I spot-treat persistent zits for good measure.

Eskinol Facial Cleanser
/ Hada Labo Hydrating Lotion Light (toner)
I’m not very particular when it comes to facial wash so it has been a huge rotation of different but mostly moisturizing facial washes (currently using Dove’s Moisture Facial Wash) but toners are entirely different story. I like sticking to one that works and I find myself going back to HADA LABO Hydrating Lotion Light and went for Eskinol after finishing it.

Eskinol Classic White Facial Cleanser will always be my first love. Its cut and dried feature, affordability, and the fact that it’s readily available everywhere in Manila is what makes it so amazing. Plus, it works wonders in cleaning my skin thoroughly! It’s cool to the skin and removes deep seated dirt and any makeup left. I’m glad I brought some with me here.

Hada Labo Shirojyun Hyaluronic Jelly
I have yet to review this but Hada Labo Shirojyun Hyaluronic Jelly is a gel-type moisturizer perfect for people with oily skin as it doesn’t leave your skin sticky. It leaves a cooling sensation (yes, I’m a sucker for anything cool/minty—-sunblocks included!)

It promises to be a 5-in-One skincare that works not only as a moisturizer but as a toner, serum, face pack and (収れん) astringent to boot. I’d say its cooling effect also helped calm my red, angry acne. You can bet that I smother my face with Hada Labo Shirojyun Hyaluronic Jelly every time I’m too lazy to use Mask of Magnaminty or a sheet mask.

CosRx Acne Pimple Master Patch
/ Etude House AC Clean Up Spot Patch
I don’t get acne on other parts of my face EXCEPT my chin so I figured the best way to deal with these pesky little ones is to go for spot treatment. Both of these acne patches are designed to cover and protect the troubled area against infection while also helping the acne to subside and heal.

The only difference are the ingredients and the component. Etude House AC Clean Up Spot Patch is shiny and has plasticky feel while CosRx’s is matte and somewhat less noticeable in daytime. Etude House's has Salicylic Acid, Tea Tree Oil, and Madecassoside CosRx: A.D.F Hydrocolloid Dresssing

QUALITY 1ST All in One Sheet Mask (Moisture)
I’m not really picky when it comes to sheet masks, I use the ones from Mediheal, Etude House, etc., or I just buy what I spot to be interesting and...affordable! This Quality 1st All in One Sheet Mask 7pcs is only ¥330 and has Cosme Ranking seal #1 while most sheet masks in Japan go for ¥100 a piece. Am I getting the most bang for the buck here? Yes! The sheet is surprisingly soft, cottony, and doesn’t feel cheap. It also helped moisturize my skin, too, as it has collagen, hyaluronic acid, and vitamin C!

That’s a wrap! I didn’t expect it to be this long but I hope this post has been useful! Thank you for reading! :)
